THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM
The Indian Education System is not actually "Indian".
It was imposed in the country by the British. The imperialists had just one goal in mind, to create a population of educated clerks and coolies, so that they serve the British Empire better.
India was set free in 1947 but successive governments did little to change the education system, in fact they only made it worse over the next few decades.
The cases given below are based on real life incidents.
CASE 1
Students: *Score 90+ out of 100 in english in the 12th board examinations*
Reality: *Can barely talk in english*
For example: https://youtu.be/a_Mi-0nNG08
CASE 2
Sister: Bhaiya, mere Social Studies main 50/50 aaye hain!
(Brother, I have scored 50/50 in Social Studies!)
Brother: Okay, show me the question paper.
*Looks at the question paper and asks a question*
Question: What are the fundamental rights of an Indian citizen?
Sister: The fundamental rights of an Indian citizen are Right to equality, Right to freedom, Right against exploitation, Right to freedom of religion and Right to constitutional remedies.
Brother: Achha bata “exploitation” kya hota hain?
(Okay, tell me the meaning of “exploitation”?)
Sister: Mujhe nahi pata, teacher ne bola tha answers ko rattlo!
(I don't know, the teacher told us to cram the answers!)
CASE 3
Teacher: Sab log last 10-15 saalo ke board exams ke question papers ki practice karna, questions revolve hote rehte hain!
(Everyone, practice the board exam question papers of the last 10-15 years as the questions keep on revolving!)
*Hence, no innovation or upgradation*
Moreover, schools teach the syllabus to students just for exams. There is no passion and curiosity for knowledge!
CASE 4
Me: *Asks a scientific or creative question*
Teacher: Beta, inn sab cheezo pe dhyaan mat do, syllabus ko ratto!
(Kid, don't focus on such stuff, just cram the syllabus!)
CASE 5
Kid: *Performs a scientific experiment or watches a scientific show on Television or mobile phone (For example, Discovery Channel)*
Parents: Padhai kyu nahi kar raha?, Kyu apna samay barbadh kar raha hain?, Hum chahte hain ki tu 90% se upar laye!, Badha ho ja! Inn cheezo se khelna bandh kar!, Tu 24 gante sirf mobile pe he hota hain!
(Why don't you study?, Why are you wasting your time?, We want you to score more than 90%, Grow up! Stop playing with these things!, You are 24×7 on mobile!)
For Indian parents and Schools, studying is just limited to text books. Cramming each and every line of the text book and pasting it on the answer paper during exams.
Creativity, curiosity and imagination is criticized, whereas, labeling, judging and comparing each other is glorified.
The irony is most of the Indian parents want their child to pursue science, but they kill the sciencist in them at a very early stage.
CASE 6
School Junior: Bhaiya, aapke 12th board ka result kitna aaya?
(Elder brother, how much did you score in your 12th board exams?)
Me: 67%
School Junior: Hawww! Itne kam! Aap toh NASA bhi gaye ho Astronomy Olympiad Jeet ke, firr bhi itne kam?
(Alas! so less! even after winning a trip to NASA by taking an Astronomy Olympiad, you scored so less?)
*Astronomy doesn't exist in the 12th board syllabus*
Me: *Facepalm*
CASE 7
Media: A boy named Riftah Shaarok made the world's lightest satellite (64 grams) which was approved by NASA and sent into space.
He scored only 62.5% in his 12th board exams, which proves that marks don't matter!
Also media: 99.4% … blah blah blah …toppers … board exams … hype it …98.3% … Exaggerate it … blah blah blah …indian education system is the best ... cut off … kota … 97.9% … blah blah blah
CASE 8
Coaching Institutions and Schools: 10 students from our institution/school have cracked the prestigious IIT-JEE examination. Join our institution/school to make your child a topper!
*The number of students in the institution/school is in hundreds of thousands*
Just look at the ratio between the so called toppers and the number of students.
Coaching Institutions or schools just use marks of a handful of students to advertise and promote themselves. It is a business scam!
Fact: IIT doesn't even rank in the top 100 colleges/universities in the world.
CASE 9
Me: Ma'am, Hockey is not the national sport of India, moreover, India doesn't have a national sport.
Teacher: Book main likha hain par, agar exam main nhi likhoge toh marks nhi milenge!
(But it is written in the book, if you don't write this in your exam, you'll not get any marks!)
*Adding wrong information in the syllabus as it is a well spread rumor*

And why does everything boil down to marks? Why?
CASE 10
There is a person, who is labelled by the society and even by himself as a 'Lower Caste' individual. He got reservation by the system because of his so called 'caste' and then got a job. He earns around 50,000 Rupees per month. His kids also get the reservation, then their kids, and their kids, and this goes on.
There is another person, who is labelled by the society and even by himself as a 'General' individual. He is very creative but his job is given to a 'Lower Caste' person. He earns around 2,000 Rupees per month by doing some meagre work. His family lack basic resources though his kids are creative.
The concern is to grant reservation not on the basis of a labelled 'Caste' but on the basis of reality of the finances for the ones who are creative and hard-working.
When individuals are glorified for their creativity and talent rather than a label by the society, the country prospers.
Reservation in the education system is a major downfall for India.
CASE 11
Schools teach students to follow the traffic rules at an early stage, but they just make them mug it up so that they write it in the exam and get marks.
There is no practical implementation of education in life.
PROOF:
Fact: India ranks first in the world in "Countries where most road accidents take place".
CASE 12
Subjects you get to choose in 11th grade,
Non Medical: Physics, Chemistry, Maths
Medical: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
Commerce: Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics, Maths (extra)
Humanities: History, Political Science, Economics
Common subjects in the above streams: English, Physical Education
And what if the person wanted to become a musician or a photographer?
How are the above subjects going to help him/her out in their field of interest?
Also, People who opted for commerce with maths, why is their syllabus in maths similar to the ones who opted for non medical? How does trignometry help a commerce student?
You don't need a degree to become a politician but you need a degree to work under one.
Well, degrees are also overrated in this country!
Education can bring a revolution but education system requires a revolution in India.
How do we call ourselves a future superpower when our education system is heavily flawed?
There are millions of such cases which showcase the ignorance and stupidity of the education system, Indian parents, schools and society in general.
The Indian Society judges a person by degrees and grades rather than knowledge.
Most students are enticed to cheat in exams because of the orthodox school system which appreciates grades more than knowledge.
Typically teachers tend to appreciate students who score better grades and lecture other students to imitate them.
Teachers should motivate and help the ones lagging behind, not criticize them instead of killing students morale by telling them how useless and stupid they are and that they won’t be able to achieve anything in life if they can’t score higher grades.
They even tend to compare other students with that one particularly “bright” student and expect all of them to mimic him/her.
Each and every one of us has unique dreams, abilities and passion. Nobody should compare you with anyone else because you’re you and you simply can’t be someone else! Infact you shouldn’t even try to be someone since everyone is special in his own way. Instead of giving them confidence and positive thoughts, they tend to break them even more.
Current Education System is unfortunately degined to reward one’s ability to memorise rather than actual knowledge and talent.
Everyone has special talents based on one’s ability and interest. We all are intelligent in something and stupid in something. Nobody is just plain stupid on earth. If one doesn’t know something, it doesn’t make them stupid, but ignorant, we all are ignorant In something, nobody knows everything.
Example : If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, the fish will live its entire life thinking it is stupid.
Just imagine if Eminem’s parents had told him that he can’t rap or Ronaldo was forbidden from playing football.
People here only talk about getting good grades to get a good job.
We don’t gain any knowledge here, Indians are simply making more chaos by carrying competitional thinking towards each other, which literally makes us hate each other. Out of jealousy, people create negative thoughts which create illusions. Grades don’t necessarily signify intelligence or knowledge, same goes for an IQ test, when you’re in a good mood, you tend to score higher than if you were depressed or sad.
Every human was born innocent and positive on Earth but by being hurt and betrayed repeatedly, which made them the way they are today.
Humans learn by experiences and by mistakes, through communication and observation, doesn’t that make you a certified psychologist? We all learn something new by observing behavior patterns of people around us, it literally makes us psychologists, even if you don’t hold a degree.
Thank you.
